Pawpaw Buddy's Old Fashion Slush

The Holidays are time of gathering with Family and friends and reflecting on the past year. "Eat, Drink and Be Merry"  people say!   Some families have a certain Wine they drink during the Holidays, Some maybe drink tons of  Cider while others indulge in Eggnog. My family always looks forward to Pawpaw's Old Fashion Slush. Its a cold slushy drink that will warm you from the inside out.

What you Need:

2 Cups boiling Water
4 Regular size teabags
1 1/2 Cups Sugar
6 Cups Water
2 Cups Bourbon
12 oz can of Frozen Orange Juice
12 oz can of Frozen Lemonade
Sprite or 7 up
Jar of Cherries.

Pour Boiling water over tea bags and let stand 5 minutes. Remove tea bags and add sugar, Stir until it dissolves.
Stir in 6 Cups water and next three ingredients. I use a big Tupperware container.

Cover and freeze for at least 8 Hours.
You should then have something that looks like this:

To serve, spoon 1/2 cup frozen mixture into class and add 1/2 cup sprite or 7 Up

Garnish with a couple of Cherries and splash of the cherry juice.

By the way, This is my Pawpaw Buddy. As his first Grandchild, I believed he hung the moon and stars. Always a joking around and laughing and sometimes threatening to "make the fur fly" on his misbehaving grand kids when he actually never laid a hand on any of us. I couldn't have chosen a better Grandfather myself.

Pawpaw  has Alzheimer's and now lives at the Louisiana War Veterans Hospital in Jackson, La.
I visit him as often as I can.

and....I still think he hung the moon and stars.
